How to make people dance.

Oh what a night! A very rare occurrance but how must the couple have felt to arrange their special party and only a small number of guests turning up.Eventually more arriving later but  you feel how can I make this a success. It was therefore  terrific satisfaction to make sure everyone enjoyed themselves so much they wanted to stay longer when an early night looked likely. One thing for sure if I cant get people dancing I'll give up but not likely when clients appreciate the effort saying disco was great.

25th Wedding Anniversary Disco reminder

How time flies! 25 Years is a long time but congratulations to Iaan and Pat on your 25th (silver) Wedding Anniversary.
Just goes to show how long I've been entertaining in this disco business.Even better when the couple are still together
and still remember special songs from their great wedding party they had in Edinburgh at the time.
It is even more amazing to think that you have outlasted the Suffolk Hall Hotel which had been an Edinburgh hotel landmark and perhaps the most attractive building in Edinburgh's South side. Unfortunately it has now closed down and was converted for use as a Private school.
Recently I started to put some disco reviews online but could have added many more from all those years ago.Overall, there are not many occasions I have not covered but remember being asked to dj as far afield as Liverpool, London,The Borders  and all over central Scotland. I can look back on the hundreds of successful parties , discos and big charity events, all over Scotland. since 1977 and  have  receive accolades and awards as a reminder ,which is  appreciated.
Having built up Mad Hatman discos ,year on year it  evolves and improves with fantastic sound and amazing lighting compared with what was available 30 years ago.  Digital sound now replacing boxes of heavy vinyl  but the trick is still being able to put together a programme which changes with each party and encourage friends and families to integrate  using  the dancefloor as a barometer to build the atmosphere over the night.
So overall still looking forward to forthcoming weddings booked in some of the best hotels in Edinburgh and other interesting events from huge themed  Medieval mayday events to small childrens birthday parties and  upcoming engagements .

MAD HATTER COVER STAR

Well after a few snippets here and there the MAD HATTER eventually gets a full cover photo in a glossy magazine.
Spotted outside BACKTRACKS MUSIC SHOP in EDINBURGH, he was trailed and succumbed to the temptation to be photographed in his traditional attire of red top hat green jacket and blue trousers. A darling of the cafe and tea brigade resplendant in yellow waistcoat he was joined by a gentleman in Grey tophat and black cloak reading the latest instant magazine where he is featured. No doubt the sight of The Mad Hatter holding his teapot and cup were ideal for purpose.
Taking a well deserved break from BACKTRACKS and MAD HATMAN DISCOS  one wonders if a career as a cover model has passed The Mad Hatter by.
No doubt it will be back to standing in draughty streets with a broad grin watching the world go by or waiting for a 24 bus and meeting and greeting passengers outside at Tollcross.
The Mad Hatter was particularly disappointed that Scotland football team failed to beat Georgia and must wait until they meet ITALY at Hampden in November. Having been fitted for his  kilt Tartan hat and tartan bow tie by an Italian tailoress at the start of the Euro campaign. It will soon be time to dust it off again and hopefully become a lucky mascot once more and lead the Tartan Army bedecked in lion rampant and Scotland scarf. You can check out various guises online at www.backtracksmusic.co.uk where The Mad Hatter was tracked down by Rebus writer Ian Rankin.

CHRISTMAS DISCOS & SPECIAL EVENTS

Now that the party season is upon us I look forward to entertaining more quality events. It never ceases to amaze me when people book disco entertainment
without checking who will be looking after their event. AFTER 30 YEARS  of every type of function under the sun I can look back to many memorable weddings in castles church halls or private houses knowing every one was as successful as one could make it. Rather than take money on false pretences and go through the motions as some do. I believe in working hard to ensure the music, set up and appearance is what I know is required to generate a great night or day.
Many DJs are excellent in their particular field but useless at working a party. They probably are better mixers than I am but put a microphone in their hand and its like kryptonite to Superman.
No matter what type of event from a childrens party to a huge outdoor event like th Edinburgh Marathon I have received good feedback and recommendations along the way.
Getting the right person to look after your important event is not worth entrusting to the cheapest you can find. That is why people remember the Mad Hatman and  recommend him to their family, friends and colleagues even  after many years. Perhaps it was from The Suffolk Hall Hotel where a huge amount of terrific memories were sown over 13 years. Alternatinely it may have been a family or works party.
Usually the very best in every profession are those who have worked the coalface building up their experience until they become a master of their craft.A master builder would not trust an apprentice to build his house in the same way I would never let  an inexperienced DJ look after any event.
Hopefully reders will concur and entrust The Mad Hatman to guarantee their special event is another fantastic memory to remember for years to come.
